For such a time as this

by Shalice Noel

And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?”

And then I will go in to the king, which is not in accordance with the law; and if I perish, I perish.” 17 So Mordecai went away and did just as Esther had commanded him. Esther 4:16-17.

Don’t feel sorry for your kids—remember, they were born for such a time as this. They were created to rise up and become modern-day “Esthers” and “Charlies,” bold in their convictions and unafraid of offending when truth is at stake.

I deeply mourn Charlie Kirk’s passing. Not just because I’ll miss hearing his podcasts on long road trips or watching his sharp debates on YouTube, but because my four teens have lost a thought leader they could relate to—someone young, logical, unafraid, and unapologetically bold. He didn’t have gray hair or distance from their world—he was one of them, speaking truth into a digital age that desperately needs more leaders who call this generation to think.

And that’s what concerns me most: a generation staring at screens, building their sense of belonging on digital identities instead of real truth and community.

Life is fragile. Every day counts. Let’s raise our kids to know it, live it, and step boldly into their calling. What do you think, what was your response to the losses this week? For me, it’s been a hard week.

Same! I was completely shocked. Feels like an MLK jr. loss all over again. God help our country.

Well said. My teenage boys are so upset, struggling to understand why someone would do this to a person who just wanted to debate and discuss topics. My heart hurts for his family, friends and our country. We have lost someone incredibly important to our future as a nation.

Isn’t it hard to grapple with? Someone said Charlie was so generous sharing his platform (that he grew) to his fellow debaters. He invited contrary thought and was exceptional at it. I believe he would’ve been president one day. We won’t know, but we can aspire to raise more “Charlies.”

Right? I cried most of day once I heard of his passing. I didn’t even known him personally but still felt such a connection. Praying for his sweet family.

It’s a devastating loss for his family and all who loved him. He was so young. Praying for everyone. I had not heard of him before this. Some of the videos of his debates that I have watched since show him saying things that aren’t very kind or loving. So while I won’t hold him up as a saint or role model, I will still pray for his soul and all those who are hurting, especially his kids. 💔

Agree @Berh. Mourn his death and thoughts and prayers to his family but he is not a martyr and not someone I felt exhibited God’s love for all.

For the people commenting he wasn’t kind. I hope you listened or saw the uncut versions of what he had to say.

thank you for the post Shalice. I know we spoke offline but agree wholeheartedly with your thoughts and well written words . I first heard of Charlie when his debate videos were circulating and I could hear my kids listening to them. of course once you click on a couple, your algorithm converts and then you see so many more. I was thankful to get to benefit from his public talks. I think we are only beginning to see the impact he had on the youth and where they will step up now to use their voices (and hopefully many of us older people too). May God use this week to make us more bold in our faith and witness to others. 2Thessalonians 1:12 – ” so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” continue to speak the name of Jesus, my friend. love to you all

Thank you Rachel. Amen. I’m so thankful for his impact on our youth in the past and future as we are thankful for his hundreds of video’s!! I love the verse you gave – in his death, God is definitely honored. Miss you and Will!

Such a deep loss! Felt it as if it were an attack against the president himself! I too will miss his debates that brought kids to think and question what they are hearing at their schools and media. It ignited something world wide that I pray is fueled and does not dwindle! Our kids and grandkids need to have leaders that lead by biblical truth! He was brilliant and had a none threatening approach! He will be greatly missed! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Yes truly! It felt like a presidential loss and continues to feel like that. To think TPUSA is having record downloads right now, along with revivals, is proving that his death is not in vain, and Charlie’s legacy lives on.I like that you noted his non threatening approach, I always liked that about him, his patience and gentlemanlike debates. He leaves a huge loss and call for us as parents to raise Charlies!

This is beautiful and so true. Cried every day since it happened and I didn’t even follow him closely before but he has had such an impact on me and my husband. Such a profound loss for the world and youth but praise God for the army that is rising up now because of it. Praying daily for Erika and his sweet babies.

Oh my heart has been so heavy…for Erika, for his babies who aren’t old enough to understand anything beyond that he’s on a work trip with Jesus…., for his friends, for TPUSA, for the America he LOVED, and for us left without being able to hear his voice and see his big smile. I’m just so heartsick. BUT GOD. My fam had the opportunity to meet Charlie at an event here for TPUSA, and I’m so so glad that we got to be there and hear his wisdom in person. We laughed in a big room full of people as he told Ellie she shouldn’t go to Northwestern…but he always told it like it is. I told Ellie yesterday that her first order of business at NU is to start a TPUSA there. Be the light. Thankful we are training up our children in the way they should go. Lord may they not depart from it. May young and old be emboldened to live for Him and fight for Truth bc Charlie did it with such courage. Come Lord Jesus!!!!

This was wonderfully said. We have so much work to do as a country. Young adults have been radicalized to believe this is the way to handle things. Things are so scary now, you can’t be nice, you can’t be mean….you can’t be anything. People find fault with everything you do and the media and cancel culture just encourage it. So sad for Charlie and his family. God bless them all.

Yes it is scary to think how people are opposed to open dialogue and I appreciated his gentleman debates. We need to protect free speech. Thanks for reading!
