At first, I wasn’t sure if I loved or hated mustard pants. I loved the color paired with classic suede but I’ll admit, as a stylist, it’s not an easy color to pull off. But something held my eye once I saw them, so I took them home to experiment. I discovered I liked them best with similar tones, like browns, but loved it layered with a feminine blouse, masculine plaid and versatile booties. It just felt so fall!  Give it a try! I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Plaid is another great fall favorite, dressed up or down, and I can’t wait to layer it with a moto jacket. At the moment I’m off to catch a plane to JFK for the Kendra Scott dinner in NYC. Looking forward to this quick trip, and thankful for the short 48 hour getaway to meet new faces. Naturally, I packed some plaid and mustard along with leather. Happy fall!

After NYFW last week, I am more convinced than ever that there’s no hint of the fringe trend ending. It’s super hot with no sign of cooling down. Everything from boots to bags were donning these hot leather tassels. Since this jacket arrived, I’ve paired it with everything from cutoffs to a patchwork skirt. I’m hooked. Apparently, Fall 2015 is all about adding a large dose of rock ‘n roll swish and swoosh to your repertoire. I, for one, am not complaining.

FullSizeRender (22) The weekend is all about getting things done right? Doing homework (shifting it from the living room rug to the desk) breakfast cinnamon rolls (from a can), packing for NYC next week (pile all favorite shoes in a corner), and sleeping in (not). While I hope to do some of those things, and do them well, I’m not going to beat myself up. I was just chatting with a mom about how much guilt we as moms experience. There’s career guilt, housekeeping guilt, and mom guilt. Pick your guilt, there’s a name for it. I easily feel like an inadequate mom, blogger, stylist and mother. The latter of which has been the biggest (but most rewarding) challenge. Do you feel the same? I know I’m not alone here. Just keeping it real. I like posting pretty pictures of smiling faces but behind it all is real life, silent prayers for help, real challenges and a kid missing a shoe. But I’m not beating myself up for it. I’m sharing one of my favorite quotes: “There’s no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one.”

Have a great weekend xx

IMG_3954I caught up with Rachel Zoe at the Sorel Boot store in NYC this week and was able to jog her brain for fall’s finest, but just one must have. Her response? Boots! I quickly asked which boots, to which she replied, she preferred over the knee but really all. I happen to agree. If boots are what you’ll will be wearing 24/7 come next week Fall, here’s your guide to chic (in seven ways to be exact):

1. This is the kind of dress that can be worn with boots and a turtleneck or a blouse. Or tie dye shirt from high school. Your call.

2. This dress in navy or wine perfectly compliments over the knee boots. And under $50. Score.

3. A fringe over the knee boot in black that has texture and movement, love.

4. The gold details on this suede bootie are everything. Think foot jewelry. Just as much bang, less buck HERE.

5. This weather worn ankle boot has just enough buckle and point to win in the effortless chic department.

6. These black over the knee boots are just classic and worn over and again.

7. Hold onto your hat, this color and shape is everything.

NYFW 2015 had a bit of a rocky start. Due to a Tiffany and Co. event in Chicago, we ended up changing our flight last minute, which left us stranded in stormy Raleigh-Durham. A couple Cliff bars and ten iced coffees later, we pulled into the Boro Hotel. Oh, the Boro. Between the unconventional check in (at a long dining table!), European vibes (cool lighting, danish furniture, breakfast included), and large airy room, I was ready to hit the ground running. Even the rain, and there was lots and lots of rain, was no damper on the excitement. We didn’t stay long in our room, since I was off to brunch at the Soho House for Shopburu, fittings at Rebekah Minkoff, and the NYFW cruise. The Statue of Liberty was so beautiful that I almost didn’t notice the major rocking of the boat … almost. I’m pretty sure NY has only one speed, and that is fast-forward! Between the shows I was able to meet with key brands I work with on a regular basis, and it was amazing to see the faces behind the names and talk shop. Among them were Faryl Robin, Rebekah Minkoff, Shoshanna, and Eliza J. I was honored to have been dressed head to toe by Rebekah Minkoff’s team who pulled looks at their studio two days prior to the show where I got to try on everything. Such a dream! And I can’t stop thinking about the bohemian rhapsody at Rachel Zoe. Spring is going to be a great time to be pregnant with all of the flowing dresses and oversize blouses. Not an announcement. Just an fyi. 🙂

6 Ways to Survive NYFW
.
1. When you can’t walk without rubbing your blisters, get two blocks in a cab due to traffic, and don’t know where the train station is? Download the Uber app.
.
2. Email every PR firm you know to get into as many fashion shows as possible. The ones you don’t get into, ask or wait around. But alway look the part.
.
3. You’re always hungry, so pack small bags of nuts in your clutch. They’ll come in handy when you discover that all the parties only serve fried potato hash. Yuck.
.
4. Bring flats in a bag. Your toes will thank you. Think Yosi’s that fold in two.
.
5. Ask the girls at the showrooms where they eat. Get a local’s perspective. Our favorites? Lá Grainne Café, Chalkpoint, and any street Lebanese sandwiches!
.
6. Don’t feel bad saying no at times. Sometimes you just need to put your feet up and enjoy a treat at the Doughnut Plant.

I’m currently at New York Fashion Week and there is no denying flares are a fall musthave. A 70’s revival of sorts. Thankfully, I kept a lot of my flares and bells from high school and college. Way to think ahead right? Or, maybe I need to practice more spring cleaning. Yikes. Either way, flares give that effortless chic vibe. Here, I’m sporting the Talbot’s Flawless 5-pocket paired with chambray. A combination I can’t get enough of. See more of their Flawless 5 Pocket Jeans for more info. Now back to dodging the rain at NYFW!

There’s little you can’t wear with fringe. That’s why I love The Bucket Bag—Burberry’s equally versatile and elegant fringe addition to their new Fall line. It fits everything from after school snacks to my oversize wallet, and I’m loving it with over-the-knee boots. It comes in elderberry and will complement Fall’s fresh palette—from black to browns, to even pinks. Yes, I’m a fan. I just can’t wait to pair it with orange. No rules.

Thank you, Burberry, for sponsoring this post!

There’s something fun and chic about a fringe tunic (on repeat) and faux fur vest.  Simple and easy. And what better pairing than two-toned brown boots?  I’m really digging the ankle detail and plan on packing them for NYFW. I’m always on the lookout for a bootie that I can actually walk (and chase kids in). Now, back to packing. . .

8 Fall Faves (some I own, some I want)
1. This fall, it’s all about the suede skirt. Thumbs up. Also loving this one in real suede. Worn here.
2. pointed toe wedge bootie that feels like a flat. Bonus.
3. A dress you should have in your closet come fall? An easy shift. Key word: easy.

4. white lace up top that’s crazy versatile. And did I mention like twenty bucks?
5. Four words: OTK BOOTS that compliments the above shift.
6. A denim lace up tunic with a gazilion options for fall. From flats and leggings to OTK boots.
7. This pullover in rust. For the comfort you want, but looks effortless.

8. The hat I keep on wearing. And wearing.

A good dress is really your best friend come fall. It’s the foundation for so many options, from handstitched kantha wraps to faux leather leggings to a covetable vegan leather jacket. Options are what keep your wardrobe versatile, fun and budgetfriendly. This dress accommodates both the sudden chilly nights (I sometimes hide leather leggings in my bag) and indian summer days. And how great is a dress with booties? If you’ve followed me for some time, you know I come back to the same items many times over, because I’ve tested them and they’ve proven to yield many stylish options. Well the dress, faux leather leggings and black hat, even Ray-Bans and lip stain are my go-to’s. And yes, they’re usually from Nordstrom, since I tend to return for their personaltouch customer service and price matching, and I’m rarely disappointed. Bring on all the prints, faux leather, chilly nights and lingering indian summer days, I’ve got just the right dress
