When I first saw this jumpsuit on the hanger, I thought, this is average. When I put it on, it was ABOVE average from the flattering smocked waist, pockets, balloon sleeve and back detail. I loved it. Although I’m embarrassed to admit with a huge closet full of clothes, I’m in an outfit rut. I haven’t felt inspired. This is why I was so happy this arrived at my doorstep just in time to inspire tomorrow’s outfit. How beautiful is the navy color? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

It’s time to simplify your wardrobe and a jumpsuit is the first step. Besides the fact that it is ONE AND DONE, it can be dressed up or down. I wear it here with a leather jacket and denim jacket. I added some print with a fun scarf. Which way is your favorite?

Two Ways to Wear a Scarf

  1. In your hair: tie it in a bow around your hair tie

2. Fold in half, tie under your hair and secure with bobby pins.

My friend Marcia demonstrates a good video on scarf tying. How do you like to wear a scarf?

The other day we were off to art class, I had dry cleaning to pick up, dinner in question on the countertop, a test to prep my 5th grader for, appointments yet to be confirmed, and all the while, nursing my 6 mos old. Life is FULL my friends. The last thing I need is a complicated outfit. While I most likely will be sporting flats when I’m with the kids, I can at least prepare for a date night in these leg elongating nude heels. I was recently searching online for a good jumpsuit that was 1. nursing friendly and 2. have a wide leg, aka the simplest outfit! This jumpsuit fit the bill on both accounts! Bonus, it is 25% off with code EVENT19. Jump to it!

I’ve been searching for what to wear to an evening out. Post baby 4mos and I cannot deny I feel and look a little different than I did a year ago. That said, I found this beautiful flowey jumpsuit (that looks like a dress) evening attire. I LOVE it and got lots of compliments wearing it. If you have an evening wedding to attend, cocktail hour, charity or just a BBQ date night, I recommend going the jumpsuit route.

Since the jumpsuit is from Shopbop and they’re having their annual sale, I included some faves below. I’ve been shopping the Shopbop sale in between making kids lunches and vacuuming up Legos. Oops. Lot’s of birthdays happening in the upcoming two weeks, so I’ll make it brief. I’ve been crushing on all things olive, jumpsuits with insanely large wide legs, anything belted, and exaggerated sleeves, particularly the balloon sleeve. I found a couple of those things and more on the Shopbop site. I included many of them below, so check it out and let me know what you think. Bonus, if you have any idea how to organize these Lego’s!

After I had kids, I became a HUGE fan of holidays. When I learned today was President’s Day and no school, I felt like dancing in streets! We had a busy weekend of Reid taking the younger three kids to the Lake and I had the eldest here in LA. Fun but tiring! I can’t wait to eat pancakes in leisure without rushing, have plenty of time to wipe the syrup off the table, and sip my coffee. Speaking of sipping coffee, sit tight, pour another cup and check out some can’t-miss-sales from around the web!

Taking Style Risks

If there’s one thing that’s been trending hard for the past year or two, it’s jumpsuits. I’ve seen people wear them to business meetings, parties, even weddings. I’ve always thought they were cool, but wasn’t sure I could pull them off. Once you hit a certain age, you tend to think you know what your personal style is and what works on your figure – and I’ve always been good with pants or dresses.

But this year I decided to challenge myself when it comes to fashion. It’s supposed to be fun after all, right? So I bought a jumpsuit!

Funny thing, now I can’t take it off, I like it so much. Beyond it being a nice refresh to dresses for events, it’s incredibly effortless. It’s literally one piece of clothing, and can transition well with accessories and shoes. I love it with these edgy black booties, but sandals would be cute, too. Plus, I thought it hit in all the right places and it made me feel confident. Something I would have never guessed!

In the name of taking all the risks at once, I of course went with a bright red jumpsuit. You guys know I love red. It feels seasonally appropriate and I’ve had a lot of fun styling it. I might add even more jumpsuits to my closet – which is a good reminder to go out of your comfort zone from time to time.

Have you taken any style risks this year? Are you into the jumpsuit look?

One of those trends that never gets old, are polka dots! It’s amazing how versatile they are dressed up with white heels or down with white sneakers. I personally love them with all white accessories for a clean and somewhat preppy look. How do you like to wear yours?

On fun date nights when hubs makes reservations for dinner, we almost always end it with coffee ice cream. Well, it’s a goal at least. We like Jeni’s in Los Feliz. But c’mon, who doesn’t? I like it when he makes our plans, leaving me with one less thing to manage so that I end up enjoying it much more. And speaking of one less thing, I tend to gravitate towards jumpsuits since it’s one piece ladies, not 2-5 with layers. One and done. What are your datenight rituals?
