So many of you have asked me what to wear to a spring or summer wedding! Since spring really is right around the corner, coronavirus not withstanding, I thought I’d share a few basic guidelines I always follow when it comes to weddings.

Here are my SEVEN BASIC WEDDING RULES to looking chic and being worry-free.

Rule #1 YOU CAN’T WEAR WHITE! I know it’s the 21st century, but this rule has everything to do with the bride and nothing to do with the time of year.

Rule #2 Don’t shy away from shine! This pink silky number moves with you and is perfect for the dance floor.

Rule #3 Consider a modern silhouette. This dress’ streamlined silhouette gives off modern vibes which means you can choose playful accessories.

Rule #4  Order your dress way before the wedding so you can try it on, dance in it, walk in it and ultimately feel your best while wearing it. If it doesn’t fit this criteria, send it back.

Rule#5 MAXXX it out. Don’t shy away from a maxi dress worn with heels. I love this one from Net-a-Porter.

Rule #6 When it doubt, add a Chanel belt. People who know me well, know this is true for me. Whenever you’re facing a fashion conundrum, whether it’s a weird waist cut, lack of definition, or just general blah-ness, throw on a belt!

Rule #7 CLUTCH it.Here’s a low end option and a high end option.
Have fun! A smile is sometimes the best accessory.

This is probably my favorite time of year. Even in California where we have year-round warm weather, everything just feels fresh and fun. It’s the perfect time to clean out your closet and add a few new spring-inspired dresses. There are so many colorful options available around Easter that it’s hard to pick just one, so I’ve pulled together five of my must-haves. One of my absolute favorites, though, is this yellow number.
First, the color yellow just screams spring and perfect for a wedding. If you’re debating between another color and yellow, I’d definitely go the colorful route this time around. Another color that’s super trendy right now is lavender, so that’s a great choice as well. Back to the yellow dress, though. Not only is the color spot on, the floral design and ruffled sleeves are the perfect details. Can you ever really go wrong with florals and ruffles for spring? I don’t think so.

You can spice up your dress even more, no matter the style or color, with some eye-catching accessories like this fun, round straw bag (another HUGE trend) and some cute pumps or espadrilles wedges. Now you’re set with an amazing wedding look and dresses that will take you all the way through spring and into summer!

It’s not right to wear black, or white, or creme to a wedding, you’re left with the question, what do you wear? Your friend may take it the wrong way if you’re competing with her white or you may look sad in black, however a set with multi colors and a blush heel seems to satisfy both crowds, the wedding party and yourself. I fell IN LOVE with these complementary colors and you will too. Though it works for a wedding, it can also do for date night, girls lunch, or a school fundraiser. It fits true to size, and for once, hubby loved my choice. I can’t wait to wear it to our friend’s wedding in September or next weekend. What’s your favorite weekend attire?

One of my faithful readers asked me to write a blog post on what to wear to a wedding. She had no idea what to wear to the multiple weddings she was planning to attend this summer, so I accepted the challenge. First off, not all weddings are created equal. The bride and groom can opt for anything from high-end evening city wedding to a backyard barbecue. And everything in between. Have no fear, I covered the basics for you to arrive appropriately chic. Here’s hoping you don’t steal the show.

BLACK TIE :: Bust out your maxi dress. Long and elegant is the name of the game. I like this one.

BACKYARD I would wear this dress from today’s blog post for this occasion. Try something fun: sheer (like this option), a bow, a stripe, and just have fun with it.

CITY Don’t be afraid to again go long and chic, streamline and lacey. Like this lace and sequin midi dress. Or this under $50 LBD that goes brilliantly with nude heels and faux fur.

CONSERVATIVE — opt for floral or a navy dress and midi length.

DESTINATION Let loose a little in an off-the-shoulder floral dress, floral midi, gingham, and ruffle off the shoulder knee length
