It’s LOVE month! Reid and I will have a lunch out 2/14 to celebrate. Reid also will take our girls out for a special Valentines meal. Daddy daughter time is so important! Here, I rounded up 10 favorites that made me smile! Lots of chunky knits and coffee table books to make the heart swoon.

Which are your favorites?

A new skincare favorite

by Shalice Noel

Being a mom of 5, I want minimum effort and maximum results. I was recently looking for a retinol to beef up my evening skincare routine and I’m loving the Retinol Supreme Night oil. It goes on lightly and holds a nice moisture. It has retinol, vitamin C and 9 plant based oils. I turned 39 this year, so I’m concerned about areas like my forehead wrinkles and laugh lines. I like that I can gently rub the serum into my skin for a nourishing look.

If you’re like me and need a boost to your skincare routine, fill your cart with the essentials like this radiant cleansing balm, age renewal super serum, retinol supreme night oil, extreme recovery cream for skin plumping and hydration. My only regret is that I just wish I started earlier.

We absolutely LOVE going to Florida and have been coming to the Magnolia neighborhood near Destin FL for 13 years! It was our dream to own a beach house there. In December, we made that dream a reality. We bought, furnished and recently started renting our beach house out. More on how to rent it here. Many of you asked where we like to eat in the Santa Rosa Beach, 30A area so I compiled 10 favorites, also kid approved! Let me know in the comments if you have any favorites that I missed.

Smash that zoom meeting with a new suit. Don’t be confused, I don’t dress up to leave for an office. However, a blazer in the color DOE indeed gets me revved up on a Monday. No joke.

It’s a color cross between a purple and pink and SUPER flattering. I’m wearing a small in both pieces for reference.

Here’s the deets before it sells out. I’m wearing a small.

You’re welcome.

Happy Monday!

Bags under $300

Hand bags are hard to find that are both budget conscious and functional. I use the lululemon gym bag and MZ Wallace bags for the pool, road trips and everything in between. They dry if I spill in them and wipe clean. Let’s hear it for the “Mom win!”

Also I choose a variety of budget friendly crossbody bags for work, travel, or date night! I also love the different colors and textures from red (Kurt Geiger) to sherpa to braided leather. Which is your favorite?

So many good finds at tjmaxx.com! I’ve been wanting a luxe coffee table book, large vase and found them all online. Tjmaxx.com is my secret to finding great home finds for our Florida house. I finally found retinol without the irritation! I make time in between the craziness of raising 5 kids to use retinol because it helps ward against wrinkles and is gentle. I have sensitive skin and I’ve used these products for 14 days and zero irritation. While I’m a busy mom of 5, I’ve used Dr Dennis Gross Gel cleanser, universal daily peel, and Ferulic intense wrinkle cream. Have you tried them? I’ve raved about them so much so that Reid started trying them!

I laugh because when I just had one child – Atalie, I remember having so much time for a long drawn out skincare routine. Now, fast forward 13 years, and I am down to 3 items I use over and over again for glowy moisturized skin. Here they are below linked for easy shopping:

STEP 1 PORE PERFECTING CLEANSING GEL

For oily, normal, dry or combination skin types, tones and smoothes skin.

STEP 2 UNIVERSAL DAILY PEEL

AHAs help accelerate cell turnover to remove surface dullness and promote healthy, radiant skin. Hello glowy youthful skin!

STEP 3 INTENSE WRINKLE CREAM

For those curious why I love this cream, I’m 39! And wrinkles are a concern and this cream creates a hydrated complexion. Here’s what the cream offers: offers long lasting hydration, replenishes skin’s moisture barrier and creates a smooth soft and hydrated complexion. What’s in it? Hyaluronic acid, glycerin, arnica and centella asiatica for a creamy lotion that has AMAZING moisture. While we were in Florida last week, I noticed with the colder windy weather, my skin was drier but this lotion goes on lightly (not heavy) and moisturizes thoroughly!

I’m so excited they gave me a code! USE CODE SHALICE20 (excluding bundles, devices and gift cards)

Reid is a fan too. Let me know what questions you have in the comments below.

I discovered this recipe off the King Arthur flour website and fell in love. It reminds me of a melt in your mouth cinnamon and sugar muffin I used to make for brunch about a decade ago in Chicago.

Good memories.

I tried to recreate that very muffin by under cooking it. I came VERY close to recreating them and they may just be better than original inspiration.

What are you waiting for, make these and let me know what you think!

Buttery Snickerdoodles

8 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
                3/4 cup granulated sugar
                1 large egg
                1 teaspoon baking powder
                1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/3 cups King Arthur Unbleached Bread Flour or King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour

              2 tablespoons sugar
1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, to taste

                To make the cookies:

Preheat the oven to 375°F. Lightly grease (or line with parchment) two baking sheets.
Beat together the butter and sugar until smooth.
Add the egg, beating until smooth.
Beat in the salt, and baking powder.

  • Add the flour, mixing until totally incorporated.
  • To make the coating: Shake together the sugar and cinnamon in a medium-sized zip-top plastic bag.
  • Drop small (1″-diameter) balls of dough into the bag; a teaspoon cookie scoop works well here. Roll/toss the cookies in the cinnamon sugar until they’re completely coated.
  • Space the cookies at least 1 1/2″ apart on the prepared baking sheets. Use a flat-bottom glass to flatten them to about 3/8″ thick; they’ll be about 1 1/2″ in diameter.
  • Bake the cookies for 8 minutes (for soft cookies) to 10 minutes (for crunchier cookies).
