Fall Must-Have: the Sweater Dress

If there is one outfit I want to share with you guys this fall, it’s this sweater dress. This dress is everything!! It works for mom-on-the-go style, date night, weekend brunch – you name it, you can wear this sweater dress. If I were to make a fall capsule, this would be the only article of clothing in it and I’d fill the rest with accessories you can use to make it work for any occasion.
One of my favorite ways to wear it is with OTK boots and a felt hat. If this doesn’t give you fall vibes, I don’t know what will! Such a cute brunch or date night look, right?
I also love to wear it with sneakers and even put leggings on underneath and style it more as a tunic. This option is definitely school pick up appropriate or for running weekend errands with the kids.
If you buy one new thing this fall, let this sweater dress be it! You won’t regret it, trust me!!

Versatile Workwear I Love

One thing I’m trying to do more of lately is give you all more workwear inspiration. I know a lot of you are corporate women who need some ideas for all kinds of outfits! Because I don’t head into a formal office every day, I like to try and put together both fashionable and versatile looks that can work for the office, but also for any other event on your calendar. Today, I am showing you one of my favorite brands for this kind of style – Tommy Hilfiger! Tommy Hilfiger is a classic brand in my opinion and I know whatever I pick from them will be perfect for any occasion. I went for these straight, cropped trousers and a preppy cardigan I’m wearing as a top (one of the fall trends to watch!). From flowy blouses to a silk cami with a blazer – the options for what to wear on the bottom are endless! I also had to top it off with a little animal print clutch and a white mule because they’ve become a wardrobe staple for this mama. Do you guys want more office looks? Let me know and I’ll put some together! This whole look can be found at Nordstrom, one of my favorite places to shop. I can’t wait to style this again!

Thank you Tommy Hilfiger for sponsoring this post!

When the Apple Watch came out, I thought, wow that’s cool, but why is the strap so ugly? So, I searched and didn’t find much of a solution other than a sporty version. Enter the Lagos Smart Caviar Watch Bracelet. First of all, it looks like a bracelet! The sterling silver band and double clasp makes it stunning and sturdy. How pretty is it styled with a stack of gorgeous Lagos bracelets? Have you seen their snake ring? Obsessed. I digress. There are a couple reasons I justify this somewhat hefty purchase:

1. The cost per wear is amazing. If I wear this watch 350 days of the year, each day costs $2.71 to wear it. Much less than your overpriced caffeine addiction.

2. This is the prettiest Apple watch strap I have ever seen. I’ve yet to see competition that lines up to this caliber. I can wear this to a meeting, out to dinner and off to soccer practice the next day. While it is sterling silver fine jewelry, it still goes with what I’m wearing. From blazers and suits to shorts and a t-shirt, the Lagos Smart Caviar goes with everything! The Lagos tagline, “My Lagos, my way” means that you can mix and match styles and stack your jewelry in any way to create your own unique look. The best news? There is no wrong way to wear your Lagos.

3. Perfect marriage of beauty and function. It is not only beautiful sterling silver, but it has an adjustable strap that perfectly holds up to the wear and tear of my busy life as a mom of 5.

If you’re hesitant, don’t take my word for it, just try it on and you’ll love the look! I love it layered as shown here. Layering your jewelry has been “in” for a while, and here I’m wearing my favorite drop earrings and bracelets to compliment the watch bracelet. Christmas is 98 days away, and this Lagos Smart Caviar Watch Bracelet. is THE perfect Christmas or birthday gift!

Chores as a Party of 7!

by Shalice Noel

Introducing Your Kids to Household Chores

I get a lot of questions about chores in our family, and if so, how does it look. I wish it didn’t take management, and gently reminders, but it does.

It’s an exciting time around our house because the kids are finally reaching the age where they can take on a few household chores. Any other moms know this excitement? We’re starting off introducing a few things with our oldest child right now and she’s been a great help, especially with the other kids. I thought I’d share a few tips on what we’re doing to get started on this journey and if you have any of your own, please share too!
Create a visual

I’ve seen a lot of other mom friends do this and think it’s a great strategy. We’re working on making ours now and explaining to our oldest what needs to be done on what days. I think she’s catching on really well and so good so far.

Incentive

Every parent knows a little bit of bribery goes a long way when it comes to getting your kids to do things. We try not to go too crazy with the bribes, but it also helps teach them about what it means to work. You try hard and do a good job, you get rewarded. Her incentives usually include small gifts (like getting to chose a favorite candy or snack. My kids like Ricola cough drops!) Another incentive is getting to go on a date with mommy or daddy.

Make it fun

I like to give her “fun” things to do or things that can be turned into a game. Like when she’s playing with her younger siblings and it actually doubles as a little babysitting time so I can clean the house or work.
We’re new to this so like I said above, if you have any tips on how to introduce kids to household chores, I’m all ears!

CHORES

This is a short breakdown of who does what.

My oldest (age 11) does laundry. She takes the large basket from upstairs to downstairs and is responsible for folding and the others help take their folded clothes to their closet. This process sometimes takes 2 days I’ll admit!

My second daughter (age 9) is responsible for filling and clearing the dishwasher. She says she ‘hates her job,’ but she’s fast and does a good job.

My oldest son (age 8) is responsible for the ‘big trash.’ He takes out the trash and recycling for the family.

My younger son is 6, and is responsible for the ‘small trash.’ He empties all of the small waste bins from upstairs into the large trash downstairs.

I wish I could say, all 4 do their chores perfectly and without complaining but I’d be lying! If I give them a heads up, like “finish your chores before we head out to Brooks’ game.” And I try to give them ample time to do their chores before we leave. It is far from perfect, but these chores are age appropriate and REALLY do help our family as a whole. With 7, people we have 7x the mess. So each and every chores blesses the whole family.

How about you, what has worked for your family? I’m all ears!

Chanel Belts (Tradesy also some good options as well)

My husband said, after our last trip to NYC in June. I just saw this girl wearing the coolest trench. I asked him later what it looked like and he said it was distressed denim.

That night in our hotel, I searched high and low for one. Believe me, it wasn’t easy. I finally found one on the Barney’s site from NSF. I now found close to the exact HERE. I want to think its the most versatile item in my closet right now!

Goes with everything and very flattering. I mean, anything belted is flattering! What do you think?

There are so many great boots out there, but the truth is, you don’t need all of them. I gathered some of my favorites that pack a lot of style punch for one outfit. I tend to wear a lot of basics, so I like my shoes to take front and center style stage. Below I summed up some of my top faves from ankle boots to oh-so-tempting snakeskin boots! I may just have to cave in and buy THESE. In the meantime, can SoCal cool down already so I can enjoy a little boot wether at say 75 degrees? Wishful thinking.

Ankle boots are a fall must have. Agreed?

Instead of the grey tone ones, I prefer the brown tones. Bring on the fall leaf colors! Style tip: wear them with cropped jeans or with a mini skirt and trench. Wait for the compliments.

Cowboy boots

Whether you are a fan or not, they are here to stay! The ones I’m wearing here have a 3″ heel, and enviable shaft height. Get them while they’re in your size! So fun for fall.

Over the knee boots

THESE are 40% off and a good buy!

Falling for Snakeskin

Whether you are a fan or not, they are smoking hot for fall. You cannot deny the chic when added to a basic all black, all white or all camel outfit. You’ll thank me later.

I love these snakeskin mules with pointy toe too! Such a fun statement with jeans or workwear.

Don’t forget, my shop page is open 24/7, you can follow me on the free Liketoknow.it app “shalicenoel” for quick links, and you can always “shop my instagrams.” If you have time this weekend, go make my blueberry muffins and let me know how they turned out!

My in-laws are in town and date nights were the original plan. However, life had other plans. Levi got sick and won’t let go of me, so goodbye freedom and yummy Italian food at Gales alone with Reid. Oh well, my mother-in law organized my kitchen cabinets so I can’t complain too much. We got a raincheck for a date night at Gale’s.

I found this polka dot camisole online on sale — love the print. It came with a skirt that I also ordered. However, it didn’t look good on me. So I styled it with my old favorite denim, practical hat (in this 100 degree heat) and pink blush sandals.

Which is your favorite?

Happy Monday! Today, I’m sharing a great suit!

One of my sweet readers told me she has a new bank job in a big city and needs some outfit inspiration. While the dress code is stiff, the style doesn’t have to be.

Here’s how I style a suit multiple ways with pops of color and accessories to match.

necklace // camisole (only $25, wearing “light beige” size 4) // bag “mini maestra” // trousers // blazer size 4 in light pastel grey // sunglasses // grey pumps similar
