Some weekends are a little haphazard around here. 7 people, countless loads of laundry yet to be folded, chex mix stuck in the carpet, yarn and paper cuttings line the rug underneath the dining room table, will our house ever be clean? While the future looks bleak for the answer to that question, I can do something about it. I did some research about WHAT MAKES A PRODUCTIVE WEEKEND? What is it you think? Writing notes, sticking to a list? Outsourcing? All those things aren’t bad. I was surprised to find, it is a couple little things in succession for good planning. Who wants a productive weekend?? I DO!

  1. Stay off Social Media. Ouch. But truly, scrolling instagram and watching stories is the fastest way to wasting time.
  2. Make a list. Stick to it
  3. Be aware of your productive hours and tackle the hardest tasks during those hours.
  4. Make muffins Sunday night for an easier Monday morning breakfast.
  5. Make a list of do-to’s and projects you need to follow up on for Monday. I can’t say enough about following up!
  6. Grocery shop or order your groceries for Sunday delivery. Decide the meals for the week, and post it on the fridge to be more organized. And also so you’re not tempted to eat out. I usually write down about 4 meals give or take one meal we go out or eat leftovers.
  7. BONUS – Hire an organizer. I have a girl who comes once a week to help me stay organized. She keeps like things together, and can sort my pantry or closet. Invaluable!

Now, it’s your turn, what are your tips for staying productive?

red square neck jumpsuit (I’m wearing a size 4) // heels both in nude and black // earrings // scarf // sunglasses // denim jacket // faux leather jacket (real leather option for 20% off)

It’s time to simplify your wardrobe and a jumpsuit is the first step. Besides the fact that it is ONE AND DONE, it can be dressed up or down. I wear it here with a leather jacket and denim jacket. I added some print with a fun scarf. Which way is your favorite?

Two Ways to Wear a Scarf

  1. In your hair: tie it in a bow around your hair tie

2. Fold in half, tie under your hair and secure with bobby pins.

My friend Marcia demonstrates a good video on scarf tying. How do you like to wear a scarf?

10 Under $100

by Shalice Noel

1.Blazer dress 2.$98 white dress 3. Tunic 4. Peasant top 5. White bodysuit 6. Strappy sandals 7. $52 jeans 8. Camel tank 9. LBD 10. Towel

I scoured the internet to find you 10 items under $100. August is a great time to pick up Christmas gifts, a gift for yourself, or replace a worn out basic. All these items above can be styled together for a travel capsule wardrobe. For example, wear this LBD with these strappy sandals for a date night out. Tip: roll your items in your suitcase, don’t fold, for creaseless traveling.

Hope you find something you love. I’m off to go workout and run a bunch of non-glamorous errands like a trip to the post office.

Happy August!

Aquatica â€“ Seaworld

When I was a kid, the water park I had access to was about seven multi colored waterslides.  Each color was a different level of rush!  I thought that was so cool.  Now that we experienced Aquatica, I’m like….wow, my kids are lucky.  We were getting a little board of the pool and the beach is great, but so much work.  You know what I mean.  All the stuff we have to lug along, dragging the stroller through the sand, taking a boat load of sand home and finding it all over the bed sheets the next morning.  A day at the beach takes a week to recover.

Last weekend, we had the opportunity to take the family to Aquatica in San Diego.  We made sure to get there right when they opened.  The gates open at 9:30am and the rides open at 10:00am, giving you some time to designate your lounge chair territory.  The park had plenty to do for all ages.  They have a splash area designated for toddlers and a massive water playground perfect for my age kids.  Lots of lifeguards keeping watch as well which gave me some comfort.  Then there’s the big daddy slides, like the giant water slides and my kid’s favorite the Tassie’s Twister.  Voted by my kids as their favorite.

Here are 5 tips for planning your day at Aquatica:

1)    Pack Sunscreen, Beach Towels and Water Shoes (Great for walking between rides)

2)    Arrive at the park at 9:30am

3)    Designate a meeting place with your family in case you get separated.

4)    The Quick Que was an added bonus to our day.  Great way to cut down on line time.  You can practice patience another day.

5)    Put your kids in brightly colored swim suits so it’s easier to find them.

Thank you Sea World Aquatica for sponsoring this post

Happy Friday readers! Thanks for stopping by. Here’s some of my favorite links from around the web, as well as some reader favorites from Shalicenoel.com. I hope you find something helpful below.

A grandma at church stopped me and asked me what my work at home tips are for her daughter in law working from home for the first time with an infant. Well, here they are. There is no reason to be nervous, you just need tools to succeed. Here’s my tips on this post

The one hat you need is not only foldable but also packable and perfect for your beach vacation!

Already thinking back to school? My favorite is the energy ball recipe. YUM. Here’s 11 back to school mom hacks!

This is the peel I’m loving. You can use it on your hands or face. I love seeing the dead skin come off! That’s how you get the glow girl!

Have you tried my couple’s workout? It can also be done alone.

What is still available on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? These pj’s that I buy every year, boots I’ve worn a ton, and Nikes under $75. How cute are these boots? Not on the NSALE, but cute nonetheless with jeans and a sweater. Can you tell, I LOVE fall fashion?

Curious what I bought from Amazon this week? See my page.

I’m making another batch of almond flour blueberry muffins, have you tried them? I make them the night before for breakfast the next morning. I also taught my eldest how to make them and they are SO good!

Hope you have a great Friday! We’re hoping to get our first beach day in tomorrow. We shall see. As always, my shop page is open 24/7, and you can email me directly: shalice@shalicenoel.com. Have a great weekend!

chucks under $20

These couple weeks my 4th has been struggling getting his shoes on, not finding them and just overall freaking out when I utter the words, “time to go, get your shoes on!” I’ve since purchased him two pairs of new shoes. One were cute olive green velcro pair and the other, Converse chucks my husband picked up from the NSALE. I was pleasantly surprised. As for the Converse chucks, he was able to get on in 30 seconds and out the door. This alleviates a lot of stress in our house. To say the least. There is still a lot available on the NSALE! See below and don’t forget to enter my $100 gift card giveaway on instagram!

boys dark straight leg jeans // boys distressed denim // boys long sleeve in “grey check” // boys short sleeve (the fit I found was true to size for jeans and tops)

Me and the kids recently partnered with Abercrombie Kids highlighting their new denim for fall. I mean how cute are my lil models? I love that there is SO much variety in the denim styles and washes at Abercrombie Kids. I believe each of my kids has a style and I tried my best to “style” them according their own style. It’s always good to encourage individuality. We can’t wait to see what Levi’s style will be!

Good news, their jeans are 50% off right now! Stock up for fall.

Enjoy your cuties now, whether it be your nieces or nephews, sons or daughters, for the days are long but the years are short.

Happy Sunday!

Friday Notes

by Shalice Noel

leopard top // sneakers // camisole ($25!) // faux leather leggings // bag

These pink birkenstock like sandals are back in stock!

This is the book we’ve been reading to the kids at night. The stories are so inspirational and encourage great conversation.

Do I use mascara primer, and should you use it too? Yes! Ever since I stopped getting lash extensions, I’ve been using lash boosters, taking biotin and collagen (to grow hair) and trying to get my lashes to look longer. I tell you, it’s hard being a girl sometimes.

I have $100 gift card from Nordstrom, how should I use it? See below some goodies I rounded up from the NSALE. My advice is, stock up on neutral layers that will stand the test of time and many trends. For example, a cute trench coat.

I’ve been making TWIX bars all week, just ask my kids. We ate them till our stomach hurt. GFDF! Now, I can’t wait to make these paleo pancakes. YUM!

My best friend is in Paris, I can’t help but wish I was there with her, booking the next table at the amazing cafe: Les Deux Margots.

I love this jelly peel. It literally makes your dead skin come off!

I’m day 3 using Biotin gummies for hair. So yum. Now, I need to hide them from Reid.

This is the color safe shampoo and conditioner I’ve been loving

Have you tried makeup melt? It’s clean beauty and so good. That’s it for now. The kids have VBS this weekend, yay! As for me, I’ll be running around DTLA beating the heat in a lightweight nursing friendly dress working on a fun project to come. What are you up to?

Step 1, This Trench

by Shalice Noel

We were in NY this summer and I saw a girl wearing this gorgeous trench. Talk about travel as inspiration. And many of you know already how much I love streetstyle in big cities like New York. Like a good stylist, I went online right away looking for the perfect “distressed” and worn denim trench.Just like the one I saw on the chic girl in SOHO. I’m happy to report I found it. However kicking myself for taking so long to post these images that the before mentioned trench is sold out. I however did find one similar for you. I love it paired with denim shorts and cowboy boots or white denim and a white crop top. Either works for a chic on the go look. Which is your favorite?
