So, a couple of you asked how you can shop my outfits and what the heck is @Liketoknow.it? The registration process is quite simple. I was skeptical myself, because I don’t like getting a ton of emails. However, you can adjust your email preferences and receive links to everything from those awesome ripped jeans, pointed toe heels or awesome blazer cape you’ve been eyeing. Yes.

Here are 3 easy steps to register:

1. Register on the www.LIKEtoKNOW.IT website

2. “Like” Instagrams that include the www.liketk.it/xyz links

3. Receive ready-to-shop product links to your inbox

Every time I link a product, it takes research. And yes, if an item is sold out, I link a similar option. As always, email me shalice@shalicenoel.com or comment here with your thoughts comments, suggestions. Happy Thursday! X

I visited the Lunya showroom last week and was able to sit down and chat with owner, Ashley Merrill, who is also a mother of two. If you’re new to Lunya, it’s inspired sleepwear for the modern woman, which means amazingly soft and always washable! Besides discussing nap jail (when we can’t leave the house) and other embarrassing (and memorable) mommy moments, she laid out her 5 must-haves below:

Q. What is your go-to LUNYA piece?

A. Our romper! (see it here)

Q.  What type of high tops are you rockin’ these days?

Suede high tops from Common Projects High Top

Q. Go-to date night duds?

James Perse open back skinny dress in white. Simple design is always the best right?

Q. Favorite Pair of jeans?

A. This is hard. High-waisted ones from Rag + Bone

Q. Go to skincare product? Beauty secret? Spill!

Skin Clinical lotion for your face. LOVE.

Loved working with Photographer Brandon Moningka of rhetoric photography. Many thanks to Ashley and the Lunya team for their warm welcome.

IMG_1058 FullSizeRenderIMG_1284 I must admit, I’m most guilty of over-wearing jewelry pieces. Because let’s face it, time is of the essence. For those of you who said “amen,” below is 5 versatile jewelry pieces that go from cocktails to park dates without a hitch, (and how I wore them).

Bauble

  1. Pyramid Spike Y-chain
  2. Crystal Bib
  3. Crystal Mason Ring
  4. Ion cuff
  5. Treasure Cuff

IMG_9379 I’ve been thinking a lot about discipline lately. Especially with our big move, I feel like it’s a great time to clean house and start afresh with a new year, a new state, and new goals. Like most creatives, one of my personal struggles is be more disciplined! Beyond fixing my bed and waking up before the sun, I’d love to get into a disciplined routine that covers my responsibilities of mother, wife and business owner.

Here is my version of Five Steps to a Disciplined Life, slightly adapted from Forbes.

  1.  Remove temptations and ask a friend to keep you accountable. If Facebook is a temptation, delete the app; if it’s potato chips, throw them away (and then toss the garbage bag outside because … you know).
  2.  Eat regularly and healthily. A ziploc bag of almonds can fill in for that unexpected meal you missed and keep you focused for that surprise meeting or not-so-surprising toddler tantrum.
  3. Don’t wait for it to feel right. It takes at least 2 weeks for a pattern to begin as habit, so keep moving forward. Remember the book, The Little Engine that Could? You can. Really.
  4. Schedule breaks, treats, and rewards. Hello Net-A-Porter, or seriously, just some new gym shoes, to reward treadmill time, crack of dawn mornings, and working when you least feel like working! We need our rewards, people!
  5. Forgive yourself and move forward. Let a handful of friends and people who believe in you encourage you in your down days. Because we all have them. Seth Godin said, “Waiting for perfect is never as smart as making progress.”

What are some of your tips? Share them below xx

I’m not sure about you, but for us date night is less about that trying out that hip, new restaurant and more about escaping the zoo, aka children. But whether we hit up Chipotle or The Ivy, it’s always nice to dress up. I mean, it’s still a date, right? Here are 4 date night looks that will carry you from sushi to sake without skipping a beat, and most are under $100. So save room for dessert.

p.s. Basically you need this denim skirt

Normally, we are battling the ice and snow right now. But here we’re being spoiled with mid sixty degree days. Helllloooo LA! Here I found an awesome texture coat from Cleobella that I’m in looooove with. It’s seriously just cotton and warm on chilly nights. So how to wear it? Balance the color and texture with an all black ensemble, small crossbody bag and pop of cobalt. And yes, I’ll be rocking it this weekend. What’s your weekend plans? We’ll spend the weekend unpacking boxes, visiting my cousin in Laguna, and looking for recipes to use with all those avocado and lemons from our backyard. Happy Weekend!

While I’d like to say that all 2500+ miles went smoothly from Chicago to Los Angeles, nobody would believe me. However if smooth is measured by candid hilarity, countless pictures, untold memories and a whole lotta thinking time, then, yes, it was smooth and you can actually believe me. We packed our grey SUV to the max (read ZERO LEG ROOM), so the rest stops were part necessity and part celebration. I’ve never made the drive to CA before, so seeing the sun set in Monument Valley and the San Juan River with floating chunks of ice were something to behold. I also didn’t think I’d see the day when we would have been within feet of hitting a cow in a free range pasture in south Utah, but yup, saw that too. And my five year-old’s reaction? “Ugh, cows these days.” Definitely blame the cows.

Below is my top 5 travel tips before leaving on that 2500 mile trip:

1. All those snacks are worth the lack of leg room; some areas had zero stops for 70 miles.

2. Buy drawing pads from Cracker Barrel. The kids loved them!

3. Pack your all black #OOTD, read leather jacket and busted knee jeans. An all-black outfit is easy to mix with different accessories and covers all milk and mustard stains. My trusty uniform was this:  JEANS / MOCK TURTLENECK / LEATHER JACKET with BROOKS SNEAKS

4. Non-fiction DVD’s for the kids, Kids get schooled and I don’t feel guilty.

5. Save room for exploring. I regretted getting upset that we were going the long way at times, totally forgetting that the JOURNEY IS THE DESTINATION.

leather jacket

As a stylist, I’m often asked what items are worth dropping some serious cash on. Without hesitation, a leather jacket is always at the top of my list, whether your taste is more real leatherfaux suede or faux leather under $100. Here are my top five, with pretty much something for everyone. And if you need that extra push, the logic behind the madness, if you will, please consider the cost-per-wear (CPW) angle. Take, for example, a pale pink ACNE STUDIOS leather jacket. If you wear it 150 days out of the year, it costs $13.33 per wear. Now, I’m far from a math major, but that’s clear enough to convince me to go for it. So, keeping the CPW in mind, you’re actually saving money rocking your moto jacket countless ways, whether it be with a pencil skirt OR sushi-date-ready lace dress. Now, that’s a brilliant idea.

Didn’t expect to be moving 2200 miles away from Chicago for New years 2015, but here we are. I’m grateful that 2015 has been a year of learning, growth and awesome opportunities. We are overjoyed to spend 2016 putting new roots in California! I’ve rounded up some of my favorite looks I hope you enjoy. I thank God I can do something I love, and YOU for your constant support!
