Athleisure is indeed a fantastic choice for busy moms like yourself! Its combination of comfort, versatility, and style makes it perfect for keeping up with the demands of a busy lifestyle while still looking great. Here are some tips to help you make the most out of your athleisure wardrobe:

  1. Invest in Quality Pieces: Look for high-quality athleisure items that will withstand frequent wear and washing. Quality fabrics like moisture-wicking materials and durable stitching can ensure your clothes last longer.
  2. Mix and Match: Athleisure pieces are designed to be versatile, so don’t be afraid to mix and match different items to create various outfits. Pair leggings with a cozy sweatshirt for a casual look, or dress up joggers with a stylish top and sneakers.
  3. Layering: Layering is key to creating stylish athleisure outfits. Add interest to your look by layering a sports bra under a sheer tank or a bomber jacket over a sports bra and leggings.
  4. Accessorize: Accessories can elevate any athleisure outfit. Add a statement necklace, a stylish watch, or a baseball cap to add a personal touch to your look.
  5. Choose Flattering Silhouettes: Look for athleisure pieces that flatter your body type. High-waisted leggings can provide support and shape, while oversized tops can offer comfort and style.
  6. Don’t Forget About Comfort: While style is important, comfort should always be a priority, especially for busy moms. Choose athleisure pieces that allow you to move freely and comfortably throughout your day.
  7. Incorporate Trendy Elements: Stay up-to-date with the latest athleisure trends by incorporating trendy elements into your outfits. Whether it’s bold colors, graphic prints, or unique textures, don’t be afraid to experiment with different styles.
  8. Invest in Supportive Footwear: Since you’re constantly on the go, invest in supportive and stylish footwear that can keep up with your busy lifestyle. Sneakers are a popular choice for athleisure outfits, offering both comfort and style.

By following these tips, you can create stylish and functional athleisure outfits that are perfect for your busy life as a mom of five. See more activewear looks and ways to stay active HERE. More Varley looks here.

1.A good jogging bra can elevate an arm workout. I feel more confident and comfortable in this one from Alo.

2. A jump rope can get your heart pumping and burn calories. A perfect at home in the driveway workout. This one has 1k reviews! Did you know you can burn 15 to 20 calories per minute? Around 200-300 calories in a simple 15 minute workout. Not bad for $9 spent in workout equipment. I also love this pilates ring. More about how to use the pilates ring in THIS POST.

3. These leggings are $60 and very flattering

4. White sneakers sleek enough for post workout chic.

5. These drops for focus and chill. Very essential right now. Use code SHALICENOEL for a discount.

6. 24 ounces of water before noon, no problem! Nothing like a new water bottle to inspire you to drink more water. Keeping it from the kids is the hardest part.

7. This jacket is so flattering and great for chilly mornings or evenings when we usually workout.

8. Super flattering $20 tank you can dress up or down.

See below my shop page which is open 24/7!

I’m usually really bad at getting to the gym, insert exercise bands and jump rope at home or the park. The kids don’t always like the gym nursery ( I don’t blame them) and do to keep the peace I workout whenever I can. It’s no secret that it makes it 100% easier to workout when I have new workout threads. I’m loving this workout bra and comfy pants I’ll also use again for the airport.

I handpicked 5 activewear pieces from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Act fast as sizes are limited and prices go back up August 7.

Who doesn’t love the fact that leggings and running shoes are hotter than hot right now? It’s now totally chic to arrive on Rodeo Drive in gym attire (minus the sweat), which makes sense when you see all the high-fashion workout wear that is everywhere. Even Beyonce has gotten on this train. Seriously people, this is fashion + comfort in its truest form. Here, I put my own spin on it with faux leather leggings, a cozy knit, and my custom Nike iD’s. Have you checked out their site? It’s the coolest thing to be able to custom design your own Nike’s. You can even write a message in the back. The colors, patterns, and message options are endless, so get to it! You’ll get them just in time to run off all that pie.

How to get started?

  1. Start with a Color, An icon , and Nike will provide the prompts
  2. They make it
  3. It arrives in 3-5 weeks, they’ll update you via email.
  4. Click HERE to start your new design

Tip: If original Christmas gifts for friends and loved ones isn’t your forte, get them a gift card to customize their own Nike’s. Brilliant right? Visit me on Pinterest to see my top faves.

There’s nothing I like more than an all-white workout outfit. And nothing motivates me more to workout than a new outfit. Thank you Nordstrom for the awesome selection of activewear! This all-white workout outfit is super comfy and perfect for tennis with the kids (who have just started lessons), and a quick run. I love that Nordstrom makes returns so easy – so I’m able to order multiple sizes to try and return what doesn’t fit without leaving my house. What inspires you to workout? My piano teacher growing up once told me a nugget of truth I’ll never forget: “to begin, is to be half done.” While it’s not completely true, it sure motivates me to start. And sometimes that little push is all I need to hit the pavement.

Also, see my shop page for more workout selections.

Nothing beats a refreshing run on the bridge at golden hour. Although, if I’m honest, I’ll admit I get tired and easily bored with daily workouts. So tunes, new gear (hello cute Nike tank!) and changing up my routine are essential. So many of you have asked for my diet and exercise routine. While I will not go into much detail, the five minute explanation is this. I usually run 3 times a week and strength training 1-2 times a week. If I’m fighting the usual 5 lbs, I drink green and dandelion tea, lots of H20, snack on protein snacks like almonds (not empty carbs like chips) and eat balanced meals like rice and chicken (or fish) with veggies. I go easy on the carbs but always make exceptions for the dark chocolate. Everything in moderation, as Granny used to say. It’s tough to say no to a run with THIS kind of view AND new workout gear from Nordstrom. Style note: I included the sizes I ordered. Keep in mind, you can order multiple sizes and easily return the ones that don’t work out. Nordstrom is known for its amazing customer service.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m no gym rat, and machines generally intimidate me. So you can imagine my excitement level at meeting with a trainer at Equinox. (It hovered around nil.) But I’m proud to say that I survived the first meeting unscathed and motivated! I met with Nick and discussed diet, health history and my usual workout … or lack thereof. We also discussed my fitness goals and what I wanted to accomplish. So, without further ado, here are my tips for Getting Started, aka Actually Getting to the Gym For Real.

  1. Set up a time with a trainer. Actual appointments are harder to forget about, and trainers will even give you a roadmap to your fitness goals. (Read more here)
  2. Be realistic. Think small and baby steps. (This is especially hard for me as I want immediate results.)
  3. Be consistent. Nick said that changes only come with dedication, as in at least 3 x a week of gym time.
  4. Be patient! Worthwhile results and good habits take time. (Yeah, so good luck with this one.)

And yes, I ‘m still sore from the Day 1 with Nick! Stay tuned for the results. I’ll keep you posted on challenges and lessons learned. Can’t wait!
