Top 5

Last week, we visited the Pasadena Library and it was simply stunning. We didn’t have long to explore, but we were able to peruse the wood paneled reading rooms, awesome kid space, and old fireplaces, so much charm. I can’t wait to take Reid back there! Also, the outdoor espresso bar is a cute little destination that’s quiet and somewhat private. Definitely worth a visit. Here are 4 more places worth a visit in LA:

5 Cold Shoulder tops under $100

A get the most questions about my jeans, so I’m sharing some top jeans I love and under $100! Yes – don’t delay. Sizes are limited. Generally, I like to have a good pair of black, denim, and colored jeans on hand to tackle any outfit. I’m really loving jeans with feminine tops and cardigans for when the weather transitions. What are your favorites?

The setting could not have been more beautiful. On a rooftop restaurant with a clear view of the Hollywood Hills, we sipped and nibbled on yummy bites before we went live on Beauty IQ. The theme of the night was Red Carpet Beauty and QVC and BeautyIQ were featuring brands and products inspired by the glamour of Hollywood and of course Red Carpet beauty. I was so honored to be asked to contribute to the panel on QVC’s Facebook Beauty IQ live on event Tuesday night in Hollywood. It’s always more exciting when it’s live! Along with Allure beauty editor Jessica Chia and fellow influencers, I was asked about beauty trends in light of the Oscars, Sunday night. We discussed the new lines that are carrying glitter make-up, how Hollywood glam always works on the red carpet, and when in doubt, add a red lip. Speaking of new lines, I was excited to see some brands I have already used and love like like Peter Thomas Roth, Wen Conditioner, Mally Beauty, and bonus, the new HP Sproket which is so fun to use for quick little prints from your phone. I linked below some of my favorite QVC beauty items that are amazingly priced for every budget. Thank you QVC family for having me and sponsoring this post.

One trend I do not foresee going anywhere is the bow tie trend. I personally love it, because its feminine and  simply oh-so-practical with a built-in bowtie.  See 5 faves below from $20 up.

Life is too short not to know about ASOS under $50 scores. I mean, SO GOOD. Tip: If you’re unsure about sizing, order both. You can easily return the one that doesn’t fit since there is free shipping both ways. My mailman is sweet enough to take my returns or I pack the kids in the car and drive to our post office a couple blocks away. Either way, it’s pretty easy!

Apparently visiting friends, staying with family and having your children in your brother’s wedding is exhausting stuff. Thankfully, it is also a special time to reconnect, hence the lack of blog posts. I blame it on plain quality family time with my parents, sisters and cousins! Below are some of our favorite Chicago coffee shops for you to explore and enjoy. LA bound tomorrow!

1. BOWTRUSS COFFEE ROASTERS – Roscoe Village – Bowtruss is our go-to before church and their “XO” wall will have you wishing you had one in your kitchen while you’re making dinner. This one gets #1 because it’s kid-friendly.

2. INTELLIGENTISA Wicker park – High on the charm scale though drinks are a bit on the small side. Yummy selection of baked goods and even the black coffee is good.

3. LA COLOMBE Wicker Park/Bucktown (right under the blue line Damen stop) – Great location, woody yummy lattes, and a beautiful aesthetic.

4. BLACKBERRY MARKET Glen Ellyn – Go early for killer lattes, gluten free options and a cute aesthetic. Did I mention the cinnamon rolls?

5. BUZZ KILLER ESPRESSO Bucktown – An upstairs, wifi, and the prettiest latte art makes this one top on my list when I don’t want to work from home.

On fun date nights when hubs makes reservations for dinner, we almost always end it with coffee ice cream. Well, it’s a goal at least. We like Jeni’s in Los Feliz. But c’mon, who doesn’t? I like it when he makes our plans, leaving me with one less thing to manage so that I end up enjoying it much more. And speaking of one less thing, I tend to gravitate towards jumpsuits since it’s one piece ladies, not 2-5 with layers. One and done. What are your datenight rituals?

5 favorite jumpsuits

1. DVF just so classic

2. SOLACE LONDON elegance personified

3. STOREE under $50

4. MADEWELL stripes and bows never looked so good (pair with a structured blazer)

5. MARA HOFFMAN OTS and so flattering

LACMA  Greenery, great art, sculpture and if your kids aren’t into 18th century Nöel Hallé oil on canvas, square sculptures that are the perfect backdrop for Christmas pictures. Gorgeous. Located: 5905 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles,

WINSOME Awesome food in a very laid-back, kid-friendly environment. The friendly receptionist handed each of my four kids a pipe cleaner (in their favorite color) and then took us to the outdoor seating. I enjoyed my duck egg toast amidst lovely olive bushes and indigo pillows, and nobody cared about my chattering kiddos. Between the fact that my kids cleaned their plates, the brilliant and hard-working pipe cleaners, and the ambiance, Winsome is a score in my book. Don’t pass this one up. Located: 1115 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles.

DINOSAUR COFFEE  The indoor/outdoor seating was convenient, and the staff was friendly despite our 6 year old touching the sea salt brownies (which turned into a great reason to add it to our purchases). Also noted, great white space for that still life instagram in case you’re into that sort of thing. The almond milk latte was nutty and rich, and when we left, we could see the HOLLYWOOD sign on the horizon. So LA. Located: 4334 W Sunset Blvd. Los Angeles.

LACY PARK 30 acres of park that is bike, kid and dog friendly. We can’t get enough of this park. It’s free during the week, and its $4 for non- residents on the weekends. It’s our kids’ favorite so far. Located: 1485 W. Virginia Rd, San Marino.

MANHATTAN BEACH This is our favorite beach! Don’t forget the aquarium at the end of the pier with sea creatures and a touch pool. When you’ve had your beach fill, there’s plenty of restaurants, ice cream shops (coffee ice cream at Manhattan Beach Creamery!) and coffee hangs to walk to afterwards. Located: 400-500 The Strand, Manhattan Beach.

Cali locals, what are some of your favorites? I’m all ears . . .

Summer Shoes

My sister asked me recently what pairs of shoes she needs for Spring? While I could easily chose at least 10, I narrowed it down to just 5 of my go-to pairs below.

  1. CONVERSE I wear chucks up and down. Laid back chic at it’s best. Get them in every color.

2. Espadrille from ASOS (I also love these platforms!) So cute and casual.

3. Platform from FARYLROBIN

4. Black sandal by VINCE

5. A slinky red sandal is a must have – and this one by STEVE MADDEN is no exception. It’s almost embarrassing how much I wear these, but nothing beats that pop of red.

Versatility is key.
