So, get this—our anniversary getaway? We went all out and booked a drumroll 1-star hotel. Crazy, right?

Reid and I are total design junkies, always on the lookout for inspiration. And let me tell you, we hit the jackpot this time. Now, let’s break it down—pros and cons and all.

You know how it goes—a weekend away unveils your must-haves. For me, it’s my trusty trench coat and those life-saving digestive enzymes. But, darn it, I left both back home this time around. Murphy’s law, I guess! I’ll delve into the Pro’s and Con’s below:

Restaurant downstairs was amazing

Opened in January so not many know about it

Coffee in the AM and cocktail at night were complimentary

No full length mirror

Room was small

The room lacked lighting at seated areas

Despite the 1-star rating and the somewhat snug room, we had an unexpectedly fantastic time. They converted an old firehouse in the Art’s District of DTLA into a hip Japanese inspired 6 room hotel. Funny enough, we shot a flower campaign in front of it when it was an old abandoned firehouse! See the pics HERE, the kids were SO YOUNG! Love how many memories we have around LA.

Reid and I would easily rate it a solid 4 out of 5. The restaurant downstairs was an absolute gem. Reid’s choice, the prime rib, was like butter with a crispy garlic topping—pure heaven! As for me, I couldn’t get enough of the miso-glazed Brussels sprouts; they were so divine that when Harmony, our server, swung by to check on us, I was practically speechless, lost in Brussels sprout bliss.

Here’s the link to where we stayed and ate.

2. What?

My first Anniversary sale was 2015, I got the Nordstrom credit card and found my now favorite rag + bone booties. They were 40% off during the sale and one of those investment buys I’ve worn many times over. Talk about cost per wear winning! The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is the mack daddy of all sales. It is your opportunity to get New fall items at discount. I’ve been shopping the sale since 2015, let me be your guide. I’m here to help you find your gem like I found my booties!

3. Where?

This is my favorite part of the sale, YOU CAN SHOP IN YOUR PAJAMAS! Let me be your guide. I only shop what I love, and ask any questions!

4. When?

  • When can I shop? Log into your account to find out if you’re an Icon July 12th, Ambassador July 14th, or influencer July 16th. The sale is open to the public, July 28.

My favorite sale of the year is here. Icon and Ambassadors get an early preview to shop today at 9:30 PST and 12:30 EST. This year is a big selection I must say. Lots of goodies. But honestly, I’m most excited about the boots.

Since they did things differently this year, allowing the Icon and Ambassador levels to shop first, THINGS WILL SELL OUT FASTER THAN USUAL. Which takes me to my first tip:

  1. BUY NOW, RETURN LATER. If you’re on the fence about size or color, my advice would be to buy it (if available) and return one if necessary. It’s more important you get the item, right?
  2. GET THE CARD. Are you a Nordstrom Card holder? I’m NOT a fan of having multiple credit cards, but I got this one 2 years ago just for this sale. I never keep a balance and only use it for this sale. What I’m trying to say, is, it is worth it. And I get multiple $20 notes in the mail because I spend so much during this sale for you girls. Sorry Reid.

tall boots (praline suede) // skirt // halogen tee under $20 (super soft and comes in 7 colors!) // chloé bag //

I’m loving these pj’s, this bag, and super soft pullover for colder areas that always sells out. I would size up for a roomier fit. I also picked up these ear crawler earrings in gold and this gold bar pendant for $52.

Here’s a sneak peek of what I got from the sale yesterday. I have 5 bags and I had to have curbside pick up to help me get everything in my car. Phew, that was a workout!

Below are some outfit ideas for my 9 to 5 girls. Many of you working girls asked for outfit ideas.

pants // tank // faux leather jacket for $62!// similar mules // pleated skirt // vince cut out bootie // leopard cardigan // black jeans (I’m wearing a 2) // CZ earrings

taupe booties for $79// black jeans // $20 tank

Here is last year’s NSale post. I also love this candle set as a gift to the kids teachers! Ask me any questions in the comments or email me any questions. This is a great week to stock up on Christmas, hostess and birthday gifts!

Every year I think QUALITY over QUANTITY. We don’t need more stuff, we need to shop smarter. I don’t always pick the cheapest things, but I will choose the investment buys and smart buys. Trust me, you will thank me in the long run!

Lot’s of goodies at the Nsale and I had to share what I tried on and purchased! Sizes are limited so if there’s something you’re eying, go for it! I not surprised so many of the jeans and boots went so fast! Thankfully they are re-stocking some great items. Which are your favorite?

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale can be overwhelming, so here’s a short guide to the women’s department! I can’t wait to wear some of these layers up at Lake Arrowhead and booties come fall. Which are your favorites?

The annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts July 12, and I wanted to give you a heads up! It’s that time of the year, I get a sitter all day, shop what I like, share it all with you. Not to mention, it’s a great time to stock up on gifts for Christmas and birthdays. This year is a little different having the Arrowhead house to furnish and having a cute baby bump! I will be sure to look for items that work both for maternity and non-maternity as well as good home finds. I’m on the search for fluffy pillows, throws and candles for house guests. One of the things I LOVE about the sale is that it includes CURRENT ITEMS for fall so when the sale is over all the pieces go back to retail price August 6.

One of the overwhelming things about the sale is that there is a lot to comb through from beauty to basics to home accessories! That is why I am here to FILTER what I consider is worth your time and include when I post on the blog, Instagram and the app! So, we sure to follow me on the app for exclusive products and outfits that will not be on the blog and instagram.

FYI NORDSTROM card members shop 8 days earlier than everyone else and get first pick of sizes and styles. It is KEY to have the card for early access to secure your size because some years I have procrastinated and haven’t been able to find my size 4 dress and size 9 heels, soooo sad.

JULY 11 Level 4 cardmembers get to pre-shop the sale in stores only.

JULY 12-19 all cardmembers get to shop Early Access in stores and online.

JULY 20-AUGUST 5 our biggest sale of the year opens to the public. Find Your Store

Why sign up for the Nordstrom Credit card?  Get a $40 bonus Note when you make any purchase with Nordstorm on your new card the day you’re approved. Yay for free money!

Finally, I’m hosting a giveaway, from me to you!! Not sponsored, just a way to give back and give you a chance at some free money to spend at the sale. 1) Follow me on Instagram and the App for a chance to win a 1 of 5 $100 gift cards to Nordstrom! Winner chosen 7/7! Good luck and I’m truly grateful for each and every one of you!

I love this combo – black and tan! And the best part? It’s all on sale! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is in full force and now is the time to buy and secure your size. I was just telling a friend how I’m so shocked how fast things are selling out this year. Crazy. Of course, I’m a huge fan of their free shipping on purchases and returns and curbside pickup! Take advantage of both. Happy Sunday!

Cute Boots from the Sale

Booties and OTK boots are a fall must-have and it’s a great time to get them on sale. How cute are booties with leggings or jeans and a comfy cardigan?

I started out blogging thrifting in Chicago. You would be amazed at what I would find: designer duds and quality basics. It also afforded me the freedom to go bold with my style. For example, I usually would find a $5 tee and $9 crazy stripe pants, so no sweat to the wallet. And if I didn’t end up liking it, I would just donate it back or sell it on my instagram shop @herchicboutique. It was a fun and mildly therapeutic habit. And habit it became. I would get a sitter so I could go down there and thrift. On the days I didn’t have a sitter, I would bring all four kids, two holding the cart (if they were being good) and two inside the cart. I would always bring tons of crackers and cringe at how many we left in our path. Hilarious. But I always found some treasures from Smythe blazers to James Pearse tees to Frame denim just to name a few, all of which I would boast to Reid when he got home. As a stylist, I was in heaven, the suspense of not knowing what I would find was addictive. Fast forward almost 4 years, and I love blogging, and I’m grateful to have brands sending clothes to me. However, occasionally I buy $39 jeans with a great hem, slash the knees and fray wherever necessary. So, that’s exactly what I did for today’s post. I love an under $50 item I don’t freak out when dirt, coffee, and the like get spilled on them. But I’m SO INCREDIBLY grateful for the people and places and faces I have had the pleasure of meeting through my blog and instagram and I will never forget that little dingy thrift shop where it all started, and the countless times my family, my uber driver, my neighbor, etc,  took pictures for me. Thank God. I would not be where I am today.
