1.A good jogging bra can elevate an arm workout. I feel more confident and comfortable in this one from Alo.

2. A jump rope can get your heart pumping and burn calories. A perfect at home in the driveway workout. This one has 1k reviews! Did you know you can burn 15 to 20 calories per minute? Around 200-300 calories in a simple 15 minute workout. Not bad for $9 spent in workout equipment. I also love this pilates ring. More about how to use the pilates ring in THIS POST.

3. These leggings are $60 and very flattering

4. White sneakers sleek enough for post workout chic.

5. These drops for focus and chill. Very essential right now. Use code SHALICENOEL for a discount.

6. 24 ounces of water before noon, no problem! Nothing like a new water bottle to inspire you to drink more water. Keeping it from the kids is the hardest part.

7. This jacket is so flattering and great for chilly mornings or evenings when we usually workout.

8. Super flattering $20 tank you can dress up or down.

See below my shop page which is open 24/7!

Have you checked out lululemon lately? They have some of the most innovative designs, comfy fabrics and flattering leggings. I can’t think of one legging brand that has most dupes. Why? Because their styles are THAT good. I went through their new fall/winter line and picked these 5 pieces.

25″ Leggings (size 6) // On my Level Bag (water repellant and has interior pockets) // Vest (size 4) // Zip Hoodie // Sherpa beanie (sherpa fleece lining) // Bra

One // Two // Three / Four // Five

Six // Seven // Eight // Nine // Ten

Good workout clothes and accessories are key to staying motivated for that run or signing up for that pilates class. These pieces are sure to motivate you and have been a long time favorite of mine and I know it will be yours.

1. My head is an odd shape and this hat is STILL FLATTERING. Did I mention, it has an irresistible sherpa lining?

2. Also, I needed a good crop legging that still looks great while traveling. Hello airplane style! They also manage to “suck it all in” which is key for a mom of 5.

3. This hoodie is lightweight but incredibly warm and soft.

4. Top it off with a beautiful vest, that is as lightweight as it is warm.

5. Grab this slouchy bag that converts from a tote to a crossbody bag and will soon be your go-to bag.

I love that I can enjoy an evening run with these lululemon layers. For me, that’s my self-care. Give yourself the gift to yourself, one from lululemon this holiday season.

Thank you lululemon for sponsoring this post. All opinions my own.

  1. Drink water! Add lemon, ice or vitamin c packets if water bores you. The benefits to drinking water for your health are many! It lubricates your joints, flushes body waste, helps maintain blood pressure, and boosts skin health and beauty to name a few. Try THIS HOT/COLD THERMOS to keep your drinks yummy!
  2. Add veggies to your diet. We like kale chips! Turn off your favorite show and get active. You can average 8 calories burned a minute of doing sets of mountain climbers. Go!
  3. Eat fewer snacks and healthier ones. Throw out the pop and potato chips and swap them for the following: almonds, kale chips, hummus and pita chips, and kind bars (5 grams of sugar). I promise you you will feel better after doing these things!
  4. Try a facial spray to calm skin with natural botanicals and hydration throughout the day.

Now, it’s your turn, what are some of your tips?

my watch // the boys watches (THIS is an option for the girls too!)

You know that one thing you really needed but you didn’t know you needed till you have it? Well, that’s how I feel about the new Garmin watches my kids and I recently received. Here’s an example of the new normal in our house. I was in the dining room when I heard stomping and laughter in the foyer. I inquired what they were doing and my boys were doing stairs to gain more points on their new vívofit® jr. 2 watches. Hilarious but true. Each of those points they so arduously culminate translate to daily goals. When they meet their goals they receive coins and with coins I can track progress and deliver rewards as I see fit. Our house is abuzz with talk of earning point and rewards as you can imagine! The watch connects to the vívofit® jr. app on my phone.  Through the app, I’m even able to assign chores and alarms when the jobs need to be completed for coins.  The kids are remarkably motivated to get their tasks done.  The app also includes access to a game the kids can play when their goals have been met for the day.  The boys are also learning about time and having the digital watch has made them aware of what time of day it is…something new for us.

The new habits in our house aren’t just about the boys though. I’m building new habits this year as well. I’m wearing the new Garmin fēnix® 5 Plus.  It’s helped me realize my activity level throughout the day, my heart rate and through the Garmin app, I can even track my workout schedule.  Which is my new 2019 goal, to regularly and purposefully workout.  Carrying Levi all day no longer counts as my arm workout girlfriends!  The new watch fits into my lifestyle choices seamlessly.  I’m motivated to be better at what I do and I really dig the style of the watch.  My style choice of watches are always on the more masculine side.  I guess I like the weightiness and it makes me feel stronger as I’m pushing through a workout.  But I also like wearing it wherever we are headed.  Sunday night we went to the beach for a sunset stroll a little beach side workout or to the grocery store.  Plus, when Reid asked me what I did today I have evidence and can honestly say… I did 7,000 steps.  Gives new meaning to the Johnny Cash song, “I’ve been everywhere, Man”!  It’s my new normal.  What’s your new normal this year?

Some facts to get excited about:

Leave your cards at home, use Garmin Pay and make payments via your watch.
Play your favorite music from your phone using streaming services such as Spotify.
$30 off Vivomove HR and $20 off Vivofit Jr from February 3 to February 16.

  1. teddy coat (with removable hood) // 2. tee // 3. sports bra (under $40) // 4. leggings (30% off) // 5. adidas sneakers

Whether you prefer running, walking, pilates or yoga, Nordstrom has you covered. I recently found these awesome moto leggings 30% off, sports bra, and $15 tee (I knotted at the waist) online at Nordstrom.com. I’m in a very busy season of life so online shopping is my GOTO like any busy mom right? I read this teddy coat has a removable hood, so I thought it would be great for Lake Arrowhead as well as running errands with the kiddos post workout. As for these leggings, I plan to style them with an oversize sweater, tank and booties for a less I-just-left-the-gym look. Athleisure, anyone?

I’m not sure what I love more – leggings I can style an oversized sweater with or leggings that double as loungewear and workout gear. Why not have it all? That’s how I feel whenever I walk into lululemon. I could probably pick one of everything, but I decided to share my top five favorites I found on a recent visit to my local lululemon store along with some real talk on working out. Because honestly, finding time to get to the gym is hard. But the idea of some fresh new lululemon items in my closet to help kick off my 2019 fitness goals sounds amazing. Because who doesn’t love new workout gear to inspire a good sweat session?

First, you may have noticed I said “goals”, not resolutions. And that’s because I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions, but I do believe in New Year’s goals. I am a proponent of establishing yearly goals in all areas of our lives. This year, my top challenge to myself is to work out regularly from my home gym and have a close friend keep me accountable – maybe even babysit while I’m in the zone.

For me, it’s incredibly therapeutic getting my workout done. This past year, though, it was a real challenge to make it to our gym. Can you relate? Life gets so busy and before you know it, the gym isn’t even a priority anymore. If you’re looking for a little encouragement in this department, here are two tips I like to remember when digging for motivation.

1. New Gear
Spend some money on a sports bra that fits. This is so important, ladies! One of my favorite things about lululemon is they’ll fit you while you’re at the store. Also, buy items you love and feel good in. Let’s be honest, cute, high-quality workout gear often gets me motivated!

2. Get an Accountability Partner
Whether this person is your hubby or a close girlfriend, just get one. I find it incredibly helpful. Thankfully my husband loves working out, so we plan on putting together a lot of workout content for couples to do together. Stay tuned for that… and keep me accountable!!!!

RESISTANCE RING //

I’ve been wanting a low impact workout for pregnancy and I think I found it. Hubby some of you may know is a fitness fanatic, so I asked his professional opinion and this was it. I don’t want to have to have a ton of fitness to do after baby, so I’m making attempts to stay active during this pregnancy. I’m actually using this fitness ring as I write this blog post!! I figured its an under $20 Amazon impulse buy that actually works. Read on!

Keeping up a fitness routine is hard no matter what phase of life I’m in. Whether it was in college balancing the books with free time or motherhood and the lack of any solid alone time. I must say though, having some kind of fitness habits while pregnant has got to be the hardest. But, not all hope is lost because now that I’m on my fifth pregnancy, I’ve learned a few things. First, I carry totally different between boys and girls. I held a lot more water with my girls and staying motivated was tough. With the boys (my current pregnancy is a boy), my belly literally just popped out and everything else has stayed pretty much normal, which makes wanting to move a lot easier.

As far as actual exercise and staying active goes, here are some tips for maintaining muscle and cardio endurance while in your third trimester.

  1. If you don’t have resistance bands, I highly recommend them. They are versatile for all body parts—I can do arm curls, tricep extensions, some shoulder lifts, back flies, etc., all with only the bands. The resistance is just enough to give me a slight burn, but not worry about weight, throwing off my balance, pinching a nerve or causing contractions.
  2. For my legs, I use a ring. It’s great for the inner thighs and even strengthens your birthing muscles. Knowing this can help come birth day keeps me motivated while I tone my legs.
  3. For cardio, I stick to walking. Any kind of bouncing makes me nervous. I know some woman run marathons up to nine months, but not me. I’d rather just keep my heart rate up to a healthy pace and then take a rest with a nice glass of water.
  4. Speaking of water—staying hydrated is essential to a healthy pregnancy. Make sure to carry a water bottle with you everywhere you go and don’t let the kids drink all of it.

Anyone else have any fitness tips for pregnancy? I’d love to hear them.

Workout Gear:

Many people ask me about my fitness routine and diet.  The truth is, I really don’t have a routine at all.  With four kids at home during the summer, my workout is keeping up with their high energy and high impact youthfulness.  I call my fitness more organic than routine.

Here I’m showing a recent trip to our favorite park.  Getting the kids’ shoes on and them out the door is my typical warm up.  My fashion minded self always slaps on some lipstick too before grabbing my keys.  However, this park day had a new focus for me.  I grabbed a jump rope and resistance bands with the intention of getting a workout in while the kids played on the playground. Well, I did get some jump roping in, but the kids were more interested in what I was doing rather than playing on the equipment.  In the end we all worked out together; they burned energy while I burned calories. I’d say that’s a win-win.

Here are some benefits to jump rope:

Great Cardio

Great for cognitive and physical health

A jump rope fits in my purse.

It’s something you get better at with practice

The kids totally want to participate too

Recommendations before jump roping:

Go to the bathroom before you get started

Wear this type of sports bra

Here is a great jump rope

Here are some benefits to resistance bands:

 Builds strength and tones muscle

Variations of movement = full body workout

They also fit in your purse

They may be used as a slingshot

I hope our video inspires you to dream up opportunities for an organic workout with the family.  Life with kids is a discipline of endurance.  Take advantage of their youthful energy and get yourself fit.

Shalice

I’m usually really bad at getting to the gym, insert exercise bands and jump rope at home or the park. The kids don’t always like the gym nursery ( I don’t blame them) and do to keep the peace I workout whenever I can. It’s no secret that it makes it 100% easier to workout when I have new workout threads. I’m loving this workout bra and comfy pants I’ll also use again for the airport.

I handpicked 5 activewear pieces from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Act fast as sizes are limited and prices go back up August 7.
